Amateur boxers from all around the area are preparing for the 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. Robert Balew is a welterweight, competing in his fourth Golden Gloves competition. He is shown sitting on a stool in the corner of the ring with his trainer. The trainer is offering him a bottle of water while a man on the other side of the ropes holds a funnel. Balew is resting between action at a practice meet.
