Description
A tragic drama of runaway marriage ended with the groom's death on Friday, January 10th. Virginia Ruth Brewer Cox, fourteen, married nineteen year old H. G. Cox in Fort Worth, Texas Monday night. The bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Brewer, learned of the marriage by postcard. Deputy Sheriff A. T. Boyd, of Fannin County, Texas, drove the parents to the city from Ector, Texas to locate their daughter. The newlywed couple were visiting the residence a friends apartment when Mr. and Mrs. Brewer arrived. A scuffle broke out in the stairway between Mr. Brewer and Mr. Cox. The father stabbed the groom in the throat with a pocket knife. Mr. Brewer subsequently admitted to the killing. Deputy Boyd is attending the trial, wearing a cowboy hat, three-piece suit, and a leather jacket.
