Description

A tragic drama of runaway marriage ended with the groom's death on Friday, January 10th. Virginia Ruth Brewer Cox, fourteen, married nineteen year old H. G. Cox in Fort Worth, Texas Monday night. The bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Brewer, learned of the marriage by postcard, and immediately drove to the city from Ector, Texas. The newlywed couple were visiting the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Z. L. Fendley when Mr. and Mrs. Brewer arrived. A scuffle broke out in the pictured stairway between Mr. Brewer and Mr. Cox. The father stabbed the groom in the throat with a pocket knife. Mr. Brewer subsequently admitted to the stabbing. There is an unidentified man at the top of the stairs looking on.
