Amateur boxers are preparing for the Golden Gloves District Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. Competing in a practice round is John Gary, left, a senior at Polytechnic High School. Gary is shown belting his opponent to the floor and displaying good "pitching" form with his follow through. This is Gary's first season of boxing competition. The referee is standing in the background, against the ropes. A crowd of people are sitting below the platform, watching the action.
