Description
National Guards are leaving for a year of intensive training on the Mexican border. There is sadness and gladness at the departure of the One Hundred and Twenty-fourth Cavalry. Corporal (Corp.) George P. Gleeson, Junior (Jr.) is one of them. He is pictured here with his father George P. Gleeson, attorney, and mother Mrs. Gleeson. Parents are sad to be parted from their son but pleased he could take part in the national defense program. They are bidding farewell to their son. Corporal (Corp.) Gleeson is wearing a uniform and hat and standing on the steps of a train car while hugging his mother and shaking hands with his father. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, November 27, 1940.
