Description
Tarrant County said goodbye to its first contingent of 56 trainees. Shown here is trainee Herbert E. Hoover, one of seven volunteers chosen by draft board no. 3, and fiancee, Miss Hazel Maddox, saying goodbye. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Maddox. In the picture Mr. Herbert is half way out through the bus window wanting to hug Ms. Maddox; Ms. Maddox is grabbing his hand. The chartered bus took trainees to the Dallas induction station. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, November 20, 1940.
