    Description

Texas' city tax assessors and collectors highlighted the sectional gatherings preceding the twenty-eighth convention of the League of Texas Municipalities at Hotel Texas. Shown here are, left to right, R. W. "Dick" Evans, Uvalde; and J. M. Darwood, Quanah City Secretary, Texas. Uvalde's R. W. "Dick" Evans finds himself in a peculiar position. He is the new president of the finance officers section and a member of the organization committe for the "rebels", the tax assessors and collectors. Both of them are wearing suits and ties and standing next to each other. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 7, 1940.
