Description
Wildcat test which Thursday "Spudded In" the twenty-first annual convention of the Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association here, was christened with oil from the discovery well drilled at Corsicana in October, 1895. The oil was in the bottle which J. P. Shannon of Fort Worth, vice president and general manager of Snowden & McSweeney, is shown breaking over the world's first rotary, rigged up at Fifth and Jones Streets. Shannon entered the oil business 25 years ago in Ohio. Shannon is dressed in a suit and hat with overalls over his suit. He is shown breaking a bottle over the oil rig.
