The Probation Institute is holding their conference in Fort Worth, Texas. Attending left to right are George D. Pickens, Fred Ward, and Carl Basland. Mr. Pickens is the chief probation officer at San Antonio, Texas. He is dressed in a double breasted pinstripe suit. Mr. Ward is the director of dependency at Houston, Texas and the vice president of the Texas Probation Association. He is wearing a suit with a pocket square. Mr. Basland is the director of the Bureau of Classification, Texas Prison System, Huntsville, Texas, state president. He is dressed in a double breasted suit with a pocket square. They are standing next to each other in this half length photograph. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 11, 1940.
