Winners of Scholarship Medals -- W. C. Stripling Junior High School scholarship medal winners. They are, left to right, Jean Herring, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Herring of White Settlement Road, winner of the seventh grade medal, and Frank Sherwood, 12, son of Mrs. Verna Sherwood of 2009 Thomas Place, winner of the eighth grade medal. They are shown seated on a bench. Jean is wearing a dress and holding her medal. Frank is wearing a sweater and has his medal pinned to his sweater. The awards, given to pupils with the best scholastic record in their grades, were started by the late W. C. Stripling Senior, for whom the school was named. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 16, 1940.
