Description

The 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Sam Bates, of the Fort Worth, Texas, district, is in the welterweight class. The aggressive boxer is being presented with a trophy as the welterweight champion. He is shown sitting in a fold-up chair with a towel around his shoulders. Bates will move on to fight in the State Tournament on February 11.
