    Description

Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother Mrs. Fred Miley were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. Two Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates parked outside a beer tavern. On a hunch, the detectives brought the suspect in for questioning. Pictured left to right, are Detective Theron Brooks, Tom Penney, and Detective Ed Smith. The detectives questioned Penney and he confessed to being the gunman in the Miley shooting. The detectives are transferring the prisoner to the Hotel Texas for a shave, bath, and a change of clothes. Penney is handcuffed to Detective Brooks. Every precaution is being taken to prevent a possible escape attempt. The detectives are dressed in hats and suits. Mr. Penney is wearing a hat, dress shirt with cuffed sleeves and trousers.
