Description
The mailman is the most popular fellow in camp among Texas soldiers engaged in the Louisiana maneuvers. First Sergeant Jack Guthrie, of Fort Worth, Texas, center, passing out mail to his men. Sergeant Guthrie belongs to Company I of the 111th Medical Regiment. The sergeant is sitting in the middle of a group of soldiers, handing out letters. Sergeant Guthrie's men are crowded around him, holding out their hands. In the middle of the scene is a wooden pole, there to hold up the tent the men are standing under. Everyone is dressed in military uniform. Published in the morning edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on September 3, 1941.
