Description
Texas Boys and Their Baby Beeves at the Texas State Fair -- Texas 4-H Club boys and members of the Future Farmers of America showed baby beeves at the State Fair of Texas junior livestock show this week that made competition hard in the junior classes and not easy in the open classes. Here is one of the good calves that demonstrates the boys' ability to feed cattle properly. A Throckmorton exhibitor is shown here with his calf. He is J. W. Ash, vocational agriculture student, and his prize-winning beef was bred by R. A. Brown. J. W Ash is wearing a cowboy hat, button-up shirt with cuffed sleeves, and trousers. He is holding the calf's halter. A car is parked in the background. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 13, 1940.
