Description

Texas Christian University football players gathered around the "watering hole," including Jack Odle, Kyle Gillespie, Howard Pope, Beek Ezell, an assistant student manager, A. J. Huffman (on knee), and Odell Harrison. All of the players are wearing their uniforms with long-sleeved shirts over shoulder pads, padded pants, and cleats while Mr. Ezell is wearing a long sleeved shirt and pants and has a towel around his shoulders. The men are standing or kneeling around a few pails full of water and are using cups to dip water out of the pails. Half of the men are drinking the water while the other half are pouring it over their heads. Star-Telegram Evening, September 6 1940.
