Description
Members of the 1940 National Range Tour visited ranges and ranch homes in Texas (June 24-28, 1940), such as the home of Glenn Allen and his daughter, Mrs. Helen Allen Williams, shown here. The tour members are gathered outside, in line to enter the house. Behind the house are three windmills. The Allen ranch was established by Allen in partnership with the late Tom Yarbrough of Fort Worth, Texas. It contains over 30,000 acres on which were about 600 commericial and registered cattle. The Allen place was selected for inspection by the range tourists because it is an example of the wide application of conversation measures recommended by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)for range improvement.
