Description
The youngest and oldest cowboys of Pecos, Texas, will lead the parade at the 1940 July Fourth Rodeo. They are Lewis Earl Eisenwine, left, five years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Eisenwine, and Henry Slack, believed to be the last surviving contestant of the first rodeo staged at Pecos, Texas, on July 4, 1883. Lewis and Henry are shown mounted on horses in the middle of an open road. A pony is standing at the left beside Lewis. Lewis is wearing a long-sleeve shirt, trousers and a cowboy hat. Henry is wearing a long-sleeve shirt, a vest, a necktie, trousers and a cowboy hat.
