    Midland, Texas is holding their sixth annual rodeo and horse show. Colorful scenes and people packed in for opening day. Dressing in western attire to add color to the occasion are left to right, Wright Cowden, Mrs. John Phillips, Mrs. Ida Beth Oliver, and Don Oliver. Mr. Cowden and Mrs. Oliver are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Cowden, Midland ranch folks. Mr. Cowden is wearing a cowboy hat, short-sleeve shirt, and trousers tucked into cowboy boots. Mrs. Phillips is wearing a cowboy hat, striped button-up blouse, and jeans. Mrs. Oliver is dressed in a hat, button-up blouse with cuffed sleeves, a necktie, and trousers. Mr. Oliver is wearing a cowboy hat, button-up shirt, and cuffed jeans. Mr. Cowden and Mrs. Oliver are holding the lead ropes of their horses.
