Description
Gus Weber (66), Texas Wesleyan College center, scores from under backboard despite close guarding tactics by Oklahoma City University players at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum game. Chiefs are Merle Bodkin (44), Abe Lemons ( head near Webers' shoulder), Jack Johnson (23) and Jim Cearley (88), extreme right. Rams won with late rush, 52-44. In the picture, Weber holds the basketball in his hands while he looks up at the net about to make a basket. Johnson tries to stop Weber with his left hand stretched out on Weber's left shoulder. The players have serious and determined looks on their faces. There are other unidentified players on the court and all players are wearing their school's jersey, sock with sneakers and some players have knee pads. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, February 18, 1949.
