Demobilization of 27th Battalion of the Texas State Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Marshall H. Kennady (right) presenting guns to peace officers (from left) Deputy Sheriff Heiser, Sheriff Sully Montgomery, Police Chief Dysart and Police Lieutenant Hightower. Heiser, Montgomery, Dysart, and Hightower are shown lined up in front of a wall as Kennady hands each of them a firearm. The men are dressed in double-breasted suits and hats while Kennady is wearing his military uniform. The guns were new.45 caliber sub-machine guns.
