Description
The Texas State high school semifinal game is being played Saturday afternoon in Odessa, Texas. Competing for a berth into the finals are the Highland Park Scots and the Odessa Bronchos (dark jerseys). Early in the contest, the Bronchos back Harvey "Pug" Gabrel (20) is shown plunging up the middle toward the end zone. He was stopped just shy at the one-yard line by Scot defender Dick Brown (36). Also pictured for the Scots are Billy Irish (64) and George Maddox (66). Blocking for the Bronchos are Billy Moorman (41), Gordon Headley (14), and Byron Townsend (27). On the next play, Gabrel pushed the ball over the goal line for Odessa's first touchdown. The Odessa Bronchos went on to win the game 31-13 and win the state title.
