Description
E. M. McConney of Des Moines came for a visit at the Northwest Texas Agency of Bankers Life Company on his first tour of the Southwest since becoming president of the insurance firm. McConney was named president of Bankers Life in April when G. S. Nollen, president for 20 years, was advanced to chairman of the board. McConney was pleased at the growth in population in Texas and the industrial expansion in the state and said that Texas can look forward to substantial benefits from a still greater decentralization of industry. However, Texans who like their pork chops and ham can not depend on much relief from the corn belt states, MacConney said, because the hog crop is short. Livestock men concentrated mostly on feeding out cattle he explained. In this picture, he is sitting by his desk. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 23, 1946.
