Judge Atwood McDonald, Tarrant County director for National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, left, says goodbye to a group of Fort Worth nurses as they boarded a special Army plane at Fort Worth Army Air Field bound for Omaha, Nebraska. The nurses will help fight a polio epidemic. Left to right, Mrs. Pauline Loflin; Mrs. Edna Earle Nolte; Miss Helen Henson; and Miss Betty C. Beard. The nurses were recruited by the Red Cross. They are wearing flight jumpsuits and some are wearing or holding their personal accessories. Their luggage are in front of them and the plane is in the background. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 19, 1946.
