    Description

The American Airlines' Midnight Expediter, a flying post office, stopped in Fort Worth, Texas on a demonstration flight in connection with inauguration of the five-cent stamp service. Fort Worth's incoming and outgoing mail was taken to the plane's side in a stage-coach. The scene represents a century of progress for the United States Postal Service. Delivering the mail, left to right, are H. E. Coale, J. H. Wiseman, Fort Worth Mayor Roscoe Carnrike, and Henry Young. Mr. Coale is the divisional superintendent of the Railway Mail Service. He is dressed in a hat and a pinstripe suit. Mr. Wiseman is an American Airlines sales manager. He is dressed in a cowboy hat, button-up shirt, coat, trousers, and cowboy boots. Mayor Carnrike is wearing a hat and a double breasted suit. Mr. Young, Postmaster, is dressed in a hat and a suit. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 1, 1946.
