The Fort Worth Cats battled the Tulsa Oilers in game one of the playoffs at LaGrave Field. In the bottom of the third inning, Tulsa catcher Roy Easterwood turned around to argue with home plate umpire Chester Fowler. Fowler ruled that the Cats' pitcher, John Van Cuyk, was hit by a pitch, and awarded Van Cuyk first base.
