Description

W. H. (Buster) Steward, employee of Fort Worth and Denver Railroad for 41 years, retired and happy at the prospect of having a chance "to catch up on his hunting and fishing." A third generation railroad man, Steward joined the Fort Worth and Denver in 1905 as a yard clerk, was promoted to switch-man in 1906, to night yardmaster in 1908 and to day yardmaster in 1911, the position which he held until his retirement. Steward's father, William Steward, was employed by MKT Railroad and his grandfather by the T&P. Steward was born on the Munsen Brothers Ranch near Rockwall City and now that he is retired he intends to take up the rural life once again on a farm near Decatur. He and his wife will do some hunting and fishing, raise a few head of cattle and some chickens. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, July 6, 1946.
