Fort Worth Cat manager, Ray Hayworth, with prospective ball players. They are, left to right, Joe Duffield of Mineral Wells, Texas; Hayworth; Dale Peden, Sundown, Texas; and Doyl Conrad, Fort Worth, Texas. The prospective ball players are the most promising 18-year-olds uncovered at the tryouts. They will compete with other Texas youths for a trip to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Mr. Duffield is wearing a shirt with a zigzag pattern, a hat, and trousers. Mr. Hayworth is wearing a baseball cap, button-up shirt, and trousers. He is writing on a clipboard. Mr. Peden is wearing a baseball cap and a button-up shirt. Mr. Conrad is dressed in a baseball cap, t-shirt, and trousers.
