Description
The Hardin-Simmons University band staged a noisy demonstration in the Texas and Pacific Station during a brief stop en route to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Shown here is Diana Sandefer, 5, band mascot, daughter of G. B. Sandefer, the band manager. She is the granddaughter of Doctor J. D. Sandefer, former president of the univeristy who died recently. She is holding a sign that reads, "John Garner Is My Man," in support of John Nance Garner, who is seeking the presidential nomination at the convention. Diana is wearing a satin blouse, trousers and a cowboy hat.
