Description

An extended family of ten live in a small, four room house in Fort Worth, Texas. Tight for space, two tents are set-up in the backyard as bedrooms for four occupants. Nellie Shaw, thirteen, is shown making the bed in which her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Gayland King Sleep. Watching at the right are Nellie's aunt Mrs. E. E. Lawrence and her five-year old cousin Jean Ann Lawrence. The girls are both wearing floral dresses. Mrs. Lawrence is wearing a dark dress.
