    Description

    Railroad conductor Herbert Fox is retiring after 40 years of service with the Texas and Pacific Railway. He made his final trip on April 3, 1946, on the Sunshine Special to Big Spring, Texas. Mr. Fox began working as a brakeman in 1902 and averaged 3,000 miles per month. Mr. Fox plans to travel to Los Angeles, California, to visit his sister, and to Kansas to see his brothers. Mr. Fox is standing against a wall with a hand in his pocket. He is wearing a striped button-up shirt, bow tie, and trousers.
