Description
Real life drama is in this picture snapped at the moment Johnny Camera, Italian stowaway war orphan for whom former 36th Division buddies squared off with immigration authorities in order to get him to Texas, is shown, left, landed in the arms of Claren Thompson, bachelor cafe owner and former mess sergeant, who wants to adopt him. This is the first time they met in Waxahachie in almost two years. They shared quarters and perils together for eleven months at Salerno, the Rapido River and other tough spots. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 24, 1946.
