    Description

Speculative comment of bystanders buzzed when R. W. Calvert, left, Hillsboro county attorney and former state legislator, and Homer P. Rainey, former University of Texas president, met at the Blackstone Hotel before the meeting of the State Democratic Executive Committee went into session. Both men are regarded as possible candidates for governor, although neither has filed. Calvert was here as a proxy to the committee meeting while Rainey delivered an address at Texas Christian University. They are standing next to each other and posing for a picture. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, February 22, 1946.
