Description
Back in the States after serving eight months as a B-17 pilot in England, Lieutenant R. A. Smith recently paid a "pop" call on his mother, Mrs. Ruth Smith, and sister, Miss Mickey Smith, both of 2101 Hemphill.. Since his return to this country three weeks ago, Lieutenant Smith has been in Ottawa, Kansas, visiting his wife, Mrs. Barbara Smith, and their baby daughter, Susan Jane, born two days before he arrived from New York. Smith wears the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, proudly reports that his ship and crew made a squadron record by never having an engine shot out and sporting "not one Purple Heart". Lt. Smith is wearing his military uniform and smiling. Star-Telegram Evening Edition March 7, 1945
