Description
A veteran of 10 years as accident and prevention and radio patrol officer, James A. Dunwoody, 38, of 3301 Montague, will assume duties Saturday as police sergeant replacing Tom E. Hays, who resigned Wednesday. Dunwoody, who topped the list of more than 50 policemen who took the sergeants's examination here recently, has served as accident prevention officer since his return from three years of duty with the Coast Guard. In announcing the appointment Police Chief Dysart said that Hays resigned his commission because the confining indoor work had been detrimental to his health, was given the choice of traffic or radio patrol work, and selected the latter. Mr. Dunwoody is wearing his uniform. Star-Telegram February 14, 1946
