Description

Gold Star Mothers Club held their first meeting of 1946 at Hotel Texas, Fort Worth, Texas. Sixty Gold Star Mothers of Tarrant County stood up and spoke the meaning of World War II and of all the other wars the nation has fought. Two attendees are pictured here. They are, from left to right, Mrs. C. U. Kane and Mrs. W. C. O'Briant. Both women are standing side by side in a room. Behind them is an American flag. Both are wearing formal dresses, hats and eyeglasses. Gold Star Mother Mrs. Kane lost her son in this war. Mrs. O'Briant is the president of the newly organized Tarrant County Gold Star Mothers Club. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, January 29, 1946.
