Doctor Cowie, of the Carnegie Institution, was in Dallas for a speaking engagement and was accompanied by Colonel Maxfield and Doctor Maxfield. Lieutenant Colonel Maxfield is wearing a military uniform. Doctors Maxfield and Cowie are wearing suits. Doctor Cowie is also wearing a Western-style (cowboy) hat given to him by Amon Carter.
