This rooming house at 1019 Lamar was nearly destroyed by a fire. Kenneth C. Porter lowered his wife to safety from an upstairs room when the fire broke out. Mr. Porter subsequently fell and broke his leg. There is an "Eat Shop" along the lower level of the building and Burch and Wiese Garage around the back. There is a car parked in front of the building. The house is owned by Mrs. Ada Huckabee. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 8, 1945.
