Description
Soldier dad was too late for Yule, but not for birthday. Although his late arrival delayed their Christmas celebration four days, Pfc. James M. Gustafson came home in time to celebrate his daughter's second birthday on Sunday with little Janis Lynn and his wife. Gustafson was sent to Europe five weeks after Janis was born. After V-E Day, Gustafson was with occupation troops in the Bavarian mountains. He arrived in Fort Worth December 29 wearing a newly-acquired discharge button. Gustafson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gustafson of Meridian, and his wife, formerly of Gainesville, plan to remain in Fort Worth. Photograph of Gustafson holding his daughter, Janis Lynn on her second birthday. Janis is wearing a dress her daddy had made from a parachute. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition January 1946.
