Description
Waller S. Baker, chief water tender, assumed his duties as an officer in charge of the Navy Recruiting Station in the U.S. Courthouse. He has served thirteen years in the Navy. He was 14 months in the Pacific area aboard a destroyer and a carrier. He also, served in the European area and from 1939 to 1942 he was on neutrality patrol in the North Atlantic. He wears one battle star on his European theater ribbon and seven stars on his Pacific ribbon. He holds the Presidential Unit Citation for the invasion of North Africa. Mr. Baker is dressed in his military uniform. There is a Naval Aviation picture and a clock on the wall behind him. A native Texan, Baker is the son of Mrs. Lula Baker of Dallas. He and his wife are planning to build a home near Arlington, Texas. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, January 3, 1946.
