Description
Sergeant Lydell Laurence, former Prisoner of War spent three and a half years in Japanese prison camps. He has gained 100 pounds since being liberated from Niigata on Honshu last August where he worked in a coal yard. He served in the Philippines in 1941 as a gunner with the 91st Bombardment Squadron. He never did got off the ground, instead he became a member of the provisional infantry and fought on Bataan until his capture. He is home for Christmas on leave from Brooke General Hospital visiting his mother Mrs. A. L. Laurence. She is the owner of North Side Florist and Sergeant Laurence is helping his mother get out the Yuletide orders for flowers. He is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College. Sergeant Laurence is wearing a sweater and a military jacket.
