Three veterans are shown here. They are, from left to right, William H. Townsend, Ralph R. Dorsey and Thurman H. McKinley. They are three of the eleven men that traded in their military uniforms for a position on the staff of the veterans division at United States Employment Service (USES). Mr. Townsend served in the Army Air Forces as a B-24 engineer-gunner. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) and the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with three stars for the northern Solomons, New Guinea and Bismarck Archipelago campaigns. A former employee of United States Employment Service (USES) Mr. Townsend returned to the office here as an interviewer in the commercial-professional division. He is shown dressed in three piece suit and tie. He lives with his wife. Mr. Dorsey, former technician fifth grade, served at Camp Wolters as interviewer of new enlistees to determine their placement in the army. He was previously with the United States Employment Service (USES). He is wearing a necktie, sweater and a coat. He lives with his wife. Mr. McKinley served at Ashburn General Hospital separation center as an occupational counselor. He was also stationed at Camp Lee, Virginia, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Bliss. He is now senior placement interviewer in the war industrial training division. He has a son and he lives with his wife. Mr. McKinley is shown dressed in a three piece pinstripe suit.
