Description
Two veterans are pictured here. They are, from left to right, John Whitaker and Bart Marshall. They are two of the eleven men who traded in their military uniforms for a position on the staff of the veterans division at United States Employment Service (USES). Mr. Whitaker holds the Silver Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He is a hero of the American beachhead at Salerno and served with the 36th division in North Africa and Italy. He is wearing a suit. He owns a company and lives with his wife and son John III at 1829 Stella. Mr. Marshall served as a yeoman first class in the Navy. He served in Australia, New Guinea, Admiralty Islands and the Philippines. He has the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon and Philippines Liberation ribbon. Mr. Marshall is wearing a double breasted pinstripe suit. He and his wife have an eighteen month-old daughter Mary Lou. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, December 30, 1945.
