Loren E. Johnson of Fresno, California, participated in proceedings at the 16th annual convention of the Oil Workers International Union, Congress of Industrial Organizations (OWIU, CIO). He is the president of Local No. 356 of the organization. Mr. Johnson was present in 1917 at Bakersfield, California, when the first oil workers union was formed. The original union was known as the International Association of Oil Field, Gas Well and Refinery Workers of America. Mr. Johnson is standing against a wall, wearing a three-piece suit and eyeglasses.
