Description

Mrs. Charles Still, of Dallas, Texas, is speaking at the osteopathic banquet at the Colonial Country Club. She is the daughter of a medical missionary and grew up in Tibet. Her childhood was spent in a mountain village, 50 days by horseback from the nearest train. She is telling stories of the culture and how the old civilization has never adopted the use of the wheel, in any form. Mrs. Still's father built the first and only hospital in Tibet and was given permission to build a second in the capital, Lhassa, the "forbidden city." He was murdered by bandits before starting the project. Mrs. Still came to America for the first time to enter college at Pomona, California. She also received a master's degree at Texas Christian University. She has published two books about Tibet and is working on a third. Mrs. Still is sitting on a chair, wearing a hat, blouse, blazer, and a matching skirt.
