Mrs. Brown is wearing a pinstripe coat and a dress with a ruffled collar. Corporal Brown is wearing his military uniform and has a cane against his leg. Mrs. Newman is wearing a floral print dress and eyeglasses. Corporal Brown spent 30 months in a Japanese prison camp with Mrs. Newman's son, Corporal James Newman.
