Description

Victory over Japan celebrants. Corporal Ralph Stokes (left) and Private Jimmy Moosick, sleeping in wooden chairs. They slept through the official announcement of Japan's surrender at the Service Men's Center. When awakened by the photographer and given the news, they shouted and ran out on the street to join in the celebration. Moosick is a veteran of both the 1st and 9th Armies with 21 months overseas.
