Description
Miss Dorothy Jean Shoemaker, 17, recently selected as one of Fort Worth's three most beautiful War Girls of 1945, has been chosen to reign as queen of Recreation Department circus at the La Grave baseball field. Miss Shoemaker, daughter of Mrs. Vivian Shoemaker, is an employee at the Department of Commerce in the Neil P. Anderson Building. The circus is entitled " Wonders of the World, and will have a two mile grand entry parade with 1,000 performers and 100 horses and a series of floats depicting story-book fables. Miss Shoemaker will give the signal for the three-ring extravaganza to begin. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 12, 1945.
