Description
Lieutenant James L. Schell, is home on a 30-day leave after completing 50 missions with the 9th Air Force in England, France and Germany. He wears the Air Medal with eight oak leaf clusters and the European Theater of Operations (ETO) ribbon with five battle stars. He was co-pilot of the B-26 Marauder which was the only one to successfully complete a snap roll, a maneuver considered aerodynamically impossible for a B-26, performed while approaching the field of the 397th Bombardment Group in France. His pilot was First Lieutenant John L. Hathorn. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 13, 1945.
