Description
Performing an emergency appendectomy while silently steaming in enemy waters should be nerve-wracking, but for Captain Tilden L. Childs Junior, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Childs, the process was just routine. A graduate of University of Texas Medical School in 1939, Captain Childs was serving his internship at All Saints Hospital when he entered the Army. He holds the Asiatic Pacific ribbon with three stars and the Philippine Liberation ribbon. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition July 31, 1945
