Description
Flight Officer Stephen V. Painter Junior (Jr.), glider pilot who made three airborne attacks in the European theater and is now spending a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Painter of Joshua. He is shown standing against a bare wall, wearing his military uniform and smiling for the camera. Besides the Purple Heart he wears the Air Medal with two clusters, and the presidential unit citation. Between the big landings in Normandy, Holland and Germany, he was co-pilot on C-47s and took special combat training. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, August 6, 1945.
